What IS wassail?
We call it “Christmas in a cup”
A wintertime spiced fruit-based beverage originated in Olde England
McGowan’s Olde Tyme Wassail is a blend of the juice of apples, oranges and cranberry, and a unique blend of spices
Is it alcoholic?
No!! McGowan’s Olde Tyme Wassail is a 100% no sugar-added juice beverage
Our wassail is great as-is - Designed to be enjoyed by children, expectant mothers, and the non-drinker
But… COULD I add something?
Rum, brandy, bourbon and red wine are commonly added
Cold, with beer, would yield a highly historically accurate version of the drink
The more refined palate often gravitates toward spirits like Fireball, Spiced Rum, Grand Marnier, Apple Crown, etc.
Wassail… Hot?… Cold?
Wassail is traditionally served hot, like a tea
Coffee cup - microwave
Pot - simmer stovetop
Crock pot
Wassail can also be enjoyed over ice
I know wassail has a history behind it. Where can I learn more?
